Refined Interpretation

Bauhaus brings you an insight into the inspiration and ideas behind the Rime Pendant Lamp through a studio visit with Gabriella Lenke and Mattias Ståhlbom of TAF Studio in Stockholm, Sweden.

Philosophy

“Our design process is based on a continuous discussion and investigation. Various elements are present within this: environment, aesthetics, physics, logistics—all parameters that belong to the design process".

Soft Expression

“Designing simple things is one of the hardest things to do”, says designer Mattias Ståhlbom of TAF Studio.

“We wanted to create a simple lamp with a glass shape, giving it a soft expression while making its top and pendant tube as subtle as possible.”

Contemporary

The Rime Pendant Lamp provides a modern design that should stand the test of time.

With its subtle, modern touch, the Rime Pendant Lamp is complemented by a powder-coated top part, pendant tube and cord in matching color.

Inspiration

Designed with a characterful shape that allows for the Rime Pendant Lamp to blend into any atmosphere, the design brings a contemporary perspective to the traditional glass pendant through its semi-transparent glass that has been etched for a refined surface expression.

Form

With its subtle, modern touch, the Rime Pendant Lamp is complemented by a powder-coated top part, pendant tube and cord in matching color.

Speaking on the ethos of the design, Ståhlbom says: “The proportions of the design make for a new perspective through the technical meeting of using as much glass as possible without compromising on the form of the design.”
