A dining table is sized by the people who sit at it, then adjusted for the room. Allow about 60 cm of table edge per person, and at least 90 cm of clearance behind each chair. Shape then decides how the table feels in use.
Round for four
The Armano Round Dining Table is 1.2 metres across and seats four comfortably. A round table has no head or foot, so conversation stays communal, and it fits a square room better than a rectangle. It suits a kitchen eating area or a small dining room, where a long table would block the walkway.

Oval for a long room
An oval softens a larger space where a rectangle would dominate. The Isabella Oval Table comes in 2.4 and 2.6 metre lengths. The rounded ends seat one more person than you planned at each end. The surface is hand-applied microskin, waterproof and built for daily family dining.

Rectangular with a pedestal base
The base decides where people can sit. The Nova Table sits on a sculptural oval pedestal, so there are no corner legs and chairs slide anywhere. It is available at 1.8 and 2.4 metres in Cloudy Latte, or 2.4 metres in Black, in a StoneSkin finish with natural depth. A 1.8 metre table seats six along its sides.
Solid timber
The Ethica Table is 2.4 metres of smoked ash, with soft curves and a sturdy build. The smoked finish deepens the grain, so no two tables are the same. It suits a household that uses the table for everything. Timber moves with the seasons and gains marks with use, and the smoked finish wears them well.

How to choose
Pick by the room first. A square room suits a round table. A long, narrow room suits an oval or a rectangle. If you host often, choose the longest table the room can take with 90 cm of clearance. If the table is for daily use by a family, choose the surface that handles marks. Our guide to dining table surfaces compares microskin, StoneSkin and smoked ash.
Chairs
The Miso and Alba chairs suit these tables. For mixing the two at one table, see our guide. Browse the full dining collection.
